The Respect Works Playbook offers organizations practical, step-by-step guide to building a respectful workplace culture on your jobsites and across your organization.
Respect isn't a policy you write once and file away — it's a practice. The Playbook gives construction leaders, executives, and jobsite supervisors the tools, language, and step-by-step guidance to build a culture where every worker feels safe, valued, and able to do their best work.
The Playbook is organized into three sections. Start wherever makes sense for where your organization is today, or work through all three to build a complete respectful workplace program from the ground up.
Before you can build a respectful workplace, it helps to understand what one actually looks like — and why it matters. This section introduces the four Core Elements of a Respectful Workplace and lays out the research connecting respect to safety, productivity, turnover, and the bottom line.
Section two is designed for the leaders who set policy and drive culture change: executives, HR, and operational management. Use it to stand up a respectful workplace program at the organizational level, from leadership commitment through measuring results.
Respect has to show up on the ground. Section three gives jobsite leaders what they need to bring respectful workplace practices into daily routines. Jobsite leaders can use this section to translate organizational commitment into everyday jobsite behavior and communication.
