Sample code of conduct

Building a respectful jobsite starts with clear, shared expectations. This customizable Code of Conduct template gives construction organizations ready-to-use language for defining what respect looks like on the job — covering core values like mutual respect, integrity, safety, camaraderie, accountability, inclusivity, and confidentiality. It's designed to complement (not replace) your existing anti-harassment policies and employee handbook, giving every worker, supervisor, and visitor a plain-language reference for how they're expected to treat one another.

The template also spells out role-specific responsibilities — from trades workers and supervisors to project managers, HR, and subcontractors — so accountability isn't left ambiguous. It includes guidance on reporting inappropriate behavior, a non-retaliation commitment, and an acknowledgment section for employee sign-off. Simply insert your organization's name, leadership approvals, and links to your internal reporting systems to adapt it for your own jobsites.
